三个和尚没水喝

山shān上shàng有yǒu个gè小xiǎo庙miào，住zhù着zhe一yí个gè和尚hé shang。他tā每měi天下tiān xià山shān挑tiāo水shuǐ喝hē。

A little temple on a mountain held one monk. He carried water up every day.

又yòu来lái了le一yí个gè和尚hé shang。两liǎng个人gè rén抬tái水shuǐ喝hē，一yì人rén抬tái一边yì biān，也yě挺好tǐng hǎo。

A second monk came. The two carried a pole together - one bucket, two shoulders - still fine.

第dì三sān个gè和尚hé shang来lái了le。三sān个gè和尚hé shang谁shéi也yě不bù想xiǎng多duō干gàn活huó，谁shéi都dōu不bú去qù挑tiāo水shuǐ。

A third monk came. None wanted to do more than the others, and nobody fetched water.

水shuǐ缸gāng空kōng了le，庙miào里lǐ失shī火huǒ了le，没méi水shuǐ救火jiù huǒ，三sān个gè和尚hé shang才cái一起yì qǐ下山xià shān挑tiāo水shuǐ。从此cóng cǐ他们tā men轮流lún liú挑tiāo水shuǐ，再也zài yě不bù偷懒tōu lǎn了le。

The vat ran dry, the temple caught fire, and there was no water. Only then did the three go down together. From then on they took turns and never shirked again.
