Common questions
How does the Chinese level test work?
You see a Chinese word and pick its meaning from four options. The test climbs through the HSK 3.0 bands - four words per level - and stops when a band gets too hard. Up to 28 questions, usually around 15.
What level will I get?
Your estimate is the highest band where you recognized most words, mapped onto the 9,437-word HSK 3.0 vocabulary (levels 1-9). It measures reading vocabulary only - listening, speaking and writing can differ. For the Taiwan track, the same words sit under the TOCFL bands.
Is the test accurate?
It is a vocabulary estimate, not a certified exam - reading a word in a quiz is easier than using it. Treat the result as the HSK level whose vocabulary you mostly know, and start one band up in the app.
