林lín黛dài玉yù母亲mǔ qīn死sǐ了le，外祖母wài zǔ mǔ接jiē她tā进jìn贾jiǎ府fǔ。

Her mother dead, little Lin Daiyu was taken in by her grandmother at the Jia mansion.

黛dài玉yù小xiǎo小xiǎo年纪nián jì就jiù知道zhī dào步bù步bù留心liú xīn，处处chù chù在意zài yì，不肯bù kěn多duō说shuō一句话yí jù huà，多duō走zǒu一yí步bù路lù。

Small as she was, she watched every step, careful not to say one word too many.

吃饭chī fàn的de时候shí hou她tā先xiān看kàn别人bié ren怎么zěn me做zuò，才cái跟gēn着zhe做zuò。

At dinner she watched how the others did things, then did the same.

宝bǎo玉yù一yí见到jiàn dào黛dài玉yù就jiù说shuō：这zhè个gè妹妹mèi mei我wǒ见过jiàn guò。天上tiān shàng掉diào下xià个gè林lín妹妹mèi mei，两liǎng人rén的de缘分yuán fèn从cóng这里zhè lǐ开始kāi shǐ。
