炎yán帝dì的de小xiǎo女儿nǚ ér女nǚ娃wá到dào东dōng海hǎi去qù玩wán，掉diào进jìn海hǎi里lǐ淹yān死sǐ了liǎo。

她tā变成biàn chéng了liǎo一yī只zhī小xiǎo鸟niǎo，名字míng zi叫jiào精jīng卫wèi，叫jiào声shēng就是jìu shì'精jīng卫wèi、精jīng卫wèi'。

She became a small bird — Jingwei — named for her own cry.

精jīng卫wèi恨hèn大海dà hǎi夺duó走zǒu了liǎo她tā的de命mìng，天天tiān tiān从cóng西xī山shān叼diāo小xiǎo石头shí tou、小xiǎo树枝shù zhī，扔rēng进jìn东dōng海hǎi里lǐ，要yào把bǎ海hǎi填tián平píng。

Hating the sea that took her life, she carries pebbles and twigs from the western hills, dropping them in day after day to fill it.

大海dà hǎi笑xiào她tā：你nǐ这zhè只zhī小xiǎo鸟niǎo，一yī千qiān年nián也yě填tián不满bù mǎn我wǒ。精jīng卫wèi说shuō：我wǒ填tián一yī千qiān年nián，一yī万wàn年nián，总zǒng有yǒu一yī天tiān把bǎ你nǐ填tián平píng。一yī只zhī小xiǎo鸟niǎo也yě不bù认rèn输shū。

The sea laughs: a little bird can't fill me in a thousand years. She answers: a thousand, ten thousand — one day I will. Even a small bird refuses to lose.
