东施效颦

西xī施shī是shì古代gǔ dài最zuì美měi的de女子nǚ zǐ。她tā有yǒu心xīn口kǒu疼téng的de毛病máo bìng，疼téng的de时候shí hou，她tā会huì皱zhòu着zhuó眉头méi tóu。

Xi Shi was the most beautiful woman of antiquity. She had heart pains, and when they struck she knitted her brows.

同tóng村cūn的de东dōng施shī看见kàn jiàn了liǎo，觉得jué de西xī施shī皱zhòu眉méi的de样子yàng zi很hěn美měi，也yě学xué着zhuó捂wǔ住zhù胸口xiōng kǒu、皱zhòu起qǐ眉头méi tóu。

Dong Shi, a plain woman of the same village, saw this and thought the frown beautiful, she too clutched her chest and knitted her brows.

结果jiē guǒ，富人fù rén看见kàn jiàn了liǎo，马上mǎ shàng关guān门mén不bù出chū；穷人qióng rén看见kàn jiàn了liǎo，拉lā着zhuó妻子qī zi远远yuǎn yuǎn地dì走开zǒu kāi。

The rich shut their doors at the sight; the poor grabbed their wives and fled.

东dōng施shī只zhī知道zhī dào西xī施shī皱zhòu眉méi很hěn美měi，却què不知bù zhī道dào为什么wèi shén me美měi。

Dong Shi knew the frown was beautiful on Xi Shi, but not why.
