When Leonardo da Vinci studied painting, his teacher made him draw eggs every day.

他tā不耐烦bù nài fán了liǎo：画huà鸡蛋jī dàn太tài简单jiǎn dān了liǎo！

He grew impatient: 'Drawing eggs is too easy!'

老师lǎo shī说shuō：一yī千qiān个gè鸡蛋jī dàn里lǐ，没有méi yǒu两liǎng个gè是shì完全wán quán一样yī yàng的de。画huà鸡蛋jī dàn，练liàn的de是shì眼睛yǎn jing和hé手shǒu。

The teacher said: 'Among a thousand eggs no two are exactly alike. Drawing eggs trains the eye and the hand.'

达dá芬fēn奇qí从此cóng cǐ认真rèn zhēn练习liàn xí，三sān年画nián huà了liǎo几jǐ百bǎi个gè鸡蛋jī dàn。

From then on Leonardo practised seriously, drawing hundreds of eggs in three years.

基本功jī běn gōng练liàn好了hǎo le，才cái有yǒu了liǎo后来hòu lái的de大dà画家huà jiā。

Mastering the fundamentals made the great painter possible.
