画龙点睛

张zhāng僧sēng繇yáo是shì梁liáng朝cháo有名yǒu míng的de画家huà jiā，画huà的de龙lóng活huó灵活líng huó现xiàn。

Zhang Sengyou was a famous painter of the Liang dynasty; his dragons seemed alive.

有人yǒu rén问wèn他tā：你nǐ画huà的de龙lóng为什么wèi shén me不bù点diǎn眼睛yǎn jing？他tā说shuō：点diǎn了liǎo眼睛yǎn jing，龙lóng就jìu飞fēi走zǒu了liǎo。

Someone asked him: 'Why don't you dot the dragons' eyes?' He said: 'If I dot the eyes, the dragons will fly away.'

大家dà jiā不bù信xìn，一定yī dìng要yào他tā点diǎn。他tā提起tí qǐ笔bǐ，给gěi两liǎng条tiáo龙lóng点diǎn上shàng了liǎo眼睛yǎn jing。

No one believed him, and they insisted he try. He lifted his brush and dotted the eyes of two dragons.

雷léi声shēng一yī响xiǎng，墙qiáng破pò了liǎo，两liǎng条tiáo龙lóng乘chéng云yún飞fēi上shàng了liǎo天tiān。

Thunder cracked, the wall split, and the two dragons rode the clouds into the sky.

没méi点diǎn眼睛yǎn jing的de两liǎng条tiáo龙lóng，还huán留líu在zài墙qiáng上shàng。

The two dragons whose eyes were never dotted remained on the wall.
