金马碧鸡

昆kūn明míng东西dōng xi两liǎng座zuò山shān，东dōng山shān叫jiào金jīn马mǎ山shān，西xī山shān叫jiào碧bì鸡jī山shān。

Two mountains flank Kunming, Golden Horse in the east, Jade Rooster in the west.

传说chuán shuō金jīn马mǎ山shān和hé碧bì鸡jī山shān上shàng住zhù着zhuó金jīn马mǎ和hé碧bì鸡jī，每měi隔gé六liù十shí年nián，金jīn鸡jī啼tí鸣míng，金jīn马mǎ扬yáng蹄tí，昆kūn明míng就jiù会huì出chū一yī个gè大人dà ren物wù或者huò zhě一yī件jiàn大dà喜事xǐ shì。

A golden horse and jade rooster dwell in them; every sixty years the rooster crows and the horse stamps, and something great comes to the city.

昆kūn明míng的de金jīn马mǎ碧bì鸡jī坊fāng，就是jiù shì纪念jì niàn这zhè个gè传说chuán shuō。

Kunming's two memorial arches keep their names.

两liǎng座zuò牌pái坊fāng对duì着zhuó日rì月yuè，日rì影yǐng月yuè影yǐng交jiāo汇huì的de时候shí hou，影子yǐng zi会huì叠dié在zài一起yī qǐ，叫jiào金jīn碧bì交jiāo辉huī。

Facing sun and moon, at the right moment their shadows merge, 'the golden and jade glows unite'.
