刻舟求剑（详读本）

楚chǔ国有guó yǒu一yī个人gè rén坐zuò船chuán过guo江jiāng。江jiāng上shàng风fēng平píng浪làng静jìng，他tā站zhàn在zài船chuán头tóu，欣赏xīn shǎng两岸liǎng àn的de风景fēng jǐng。

A man of Chu was crossing a river by boat. The water was calm, and he stood at the bow enjoying the scenery.

忽然hū rán，他tā随身suí shēn带dài的de宝bǎo剑jiàn从cóng腰yāo间jiān滑huá了liǎo下去xià qù，扑pū通tōng一yī声shēng掉diào进jìn了liǎo江jiāng里lǐ。

Suddenly his precious sword slipped from his belt and splashed into the river.

船chuán上shàng的de人rén都dōu替tì他tā着急zháo jí，说shuō：快kuài跳tiào下去xià qù捞lāo吧ba，再zài晚wǎn就jìu找zhǎo不到bù dào了liǎo！

Everyone on board worried for him: jump in and fetch it, or it will be lost!

可是kě shì那nà个人gè rén一点儿yī diǎn r也yě不bù着急zháo jí。他tā不bù慌huāng不bù忙máng地dì拿出ná chū一yī把bǎ小xiǎo刀dāo，在zài船chuán边biān上shàng刻kè了liǎo一yī个gè记号jì hao。

But the man was not worried at all. Calmly he took out a small knife and cut a mark on the side of the boat.

他tā指着zhǐ zhe记号jì hao说shuō：我wǒ的de剑jiàn是shì从cóng这里zhè lǐ掉diào下去xià qù的de，我wǒ都dōu记jì下来xià lai了liǎo。

Pointing at the mark he said: my sword fell in right here, I have noted it.

船chuán靠kào岸àn以后yǐ hòu，他tā从cóng刻kè着zhuó记号jì hao的de地方dì fāng跳tiào进jìn水shuǐ里lǐ，摸mō了liǎo半天bàn tiān，什么shén me也yě没有méi yǒu摸mō到dào。

After the boat reached the far bank, he jumped in at the marked spot and groped about for ages, finding nothing.

船chuán上shàng的de人rén都dōu笑xiào了liǎo：船chuán在zài走zǒu，水shuǐ在zài流líu，剑jiàn掉diào进jìn江jiāng里lǐ是shì不bù会huì跟gēn着zhuó船chuán走zǒu的de，你nǐ怎么zěn me能néng这样zhè yàng找zhǎo呢ne？

Everyone laughed: the boat moves and the water flows; a sword dropped in the river does not travel with the boat. How could you search this way?

那nà个人gè rén在zài水shuǐ里lǐ找zhǎo了liǎo很hěn久jǐu，浑身hún shēn湿shī透tòu了liǎo，最后zuì hòu什么shén me也yě没méi找到zhǎo dào，只能zhǐ néng空kòng着手zhuó shǒu上shàng岸àn。

The man searched the water for a long time, soaked through, and finally climbed out empty-handed.

其实qí shí他tā刻kè记号jì hao的de时候shí hou想xiǎng得děi并bìng不错bù cuò，错cuò在zài他tā忘记wàng jì了liǎo一yī件jiàn事shì：船chuán是shì动dòng的de，剑jiàn是shì不bù动dòng的de。

His marking was not the mistake; the mistake was forgetting that the boat moves while the sword does not.

刻舟求剑kè zhōu qíu jiàn这zhè个gè成语chéng yǔ告诉gào su我们wǒ men：情况qíng kuàng变biàn了liǎo，办法bàn fǎ也yě要yào跟gēn着zhuó变biàn。死sǐ守shǒu老lǎo办法bàn fǎ，只zhī会huì闹nào笑话xiào hua。

Marking the boat to find the sword teaches: when things change, methods must change too. Clinging to the old way only makes you a joke.
