孟母三迁

孟mèng子zi的de母亲mǔ qīn为了wèi le让ràng他tā有yǒu一yī个gè好hào的de学习xué xí环境huán jìng，搬bān了liǎo三sān次cì家jiā。

To give Mencius a good place to grow up, his mother moved house three times.

他们tā men先xiān住zhù在zài墓地mù dì旁边páng biān，孟mèng子zi学xué着zhuó大人dà ren跪guì拜bài和hé哭kū丧sàng。孟mèng母mǔ说shuō：这里zhè lǐ不适bù shì合hé我wǒ的de孩子hái zi住zhù。

First they lived beside a cemetery, and young Mencius copied the mourners' wailing and bowing. 'This is no place for my son,' she said.

他们tā men搬bān到dào集jí市shì旁边páng biān，孟mèng子zi又yòu学xué商人shāng rén叫jiào卖mài。孟mèng母mǔ又yòu搬bān了liǎo家jiā。

They moved beside a market, and Mencius took to imitating the hawkers' cries. She moved again.

最后zuì hòu，他们tā men搬bān到dào学堂xué táng旁边páng biān。孟mèng子zi开始kāi shǐ学习xué xí礼仪lǐ yí和hé读书dú shū。

At last they settled beside a school, and Mencius began to study ritual and letters.

孟mèng母mǔ说shuō：这zhè才cái是shì我wǒ儿子ér zi应该yīng gāi住zhù的de地方dì fāng。

'This,' said his mother, 'is where my son should live.'
