守株待兔（详读本）

宋sòng国有guó yǒu一yí个gè农民nóng mín，田tián里lǐ有yǒu一yì棵kē大dà树shù。他tā每měi天tiān在zài地dì里lǐ干gàn活huó，日子rì zi过guò得de很hěn辛苦xīn kǔ。

In the state of Song there was a farmer whose field held a big tree. He worked hard every day.

有yǒu一yì天tiān，他tā正在zhèng zài锄chú地dì，忽然hū rán看见kàn jiàn一yì只zhī兔tù子zǐ从cóng远处yuǎn chù飞快fēi kuài地de跑pǎo过来guò lái。

One day while hoeing, he suddenly saw a rabbit racing toward him from far away.

那nà只zhī兔tù子zǐ跑pǎo得de太tài急jí，一头yì tóu撞zhuàng在zài大dà树shù上shàng，脖子bó zi断duàn了le，倒dǎo在zài地上dì shang不bú动dòng了le。

The rabbit ran so fast it crashed into the tree, broke its neck, and fell still.

农民nóng mín高兴gāo xìng极jí了le。他tā捡jiǎn起qǐ兔tù子zǐ，回家huí jiā做zuò了le一yí顿dùn好吃hǎo chī的de晚饭wǎn fàn。他tā想xiǎng：今天jīn tiān真zhēn走zǒu运yùn，白bái得了dé le一yì只zhī兔tù子zǐ。

The farmer was overjoyed. He picked it up and cooked a fine dinner. What luck, he thought, a free rabbit.

第dì二èr天tiān，他tā又yòu来到lái dào田tián里lǐ，可是kě shì这zhè一yí次cì，他tā没有méi yǒu干gàn活huó。他tā坐zuò在zài大dà树shù旁边páng biān，等děng着zhe兔tù子zǐ再zài来lái撞zhuàng树shù。

The next day he returned, but this time he did no work. He sat by the tree, waiting for another rabbit to crash into it.

一yì天tiān过去guò qù了le，没有méi yǒu兔tù子zǐ来lái。两liǎng天tiān过去guò qù了le，还是hái shi没有méi yǒu。他tā天天tiān tiān坐zuò在zài那里nà li等děng，田tián里lǐ的de草cǎo越yuè长cháng越yuè高gāo，庄稼zhuāng jia全都quán dōu荒huāng了le。

One day passed, no rabbit. Two days, still none. He waited day after day while weeds grew tall and his crops died.

秋天qiū tiān到dào了le，别人bié ren的de田tián里lǐ都dōu丰收fēng shōu了le，只有zhǐ yǒu他tā的de田tián里lǐ什么shén me也yě没有méi yǒu。

When autumn came, everyone's fields were full of grain, except his, which held nothing.

村cūn里lǐ的de人rén都dōu笑xiào他tā：哪nǎ有yǒu天天tiān tiān撞zhuàng树shù的de兔tù子zǐ呢ne？为了wèi le等děng一yì只zhī兔tù子zǐ，他tā把bǎ一yì年nián的de收shōu成chéng都dōu丢diū了le。

The villagers laughed: where is there a rabbit that crashes into a tree every day? Waiting for one rabbit, he lost a whole year's harvest.

有人yǒu rén问wèn他tā：你nǐ为什么wèi shén me不bú干gàn活huó了le？他tā说shuō：干gàn活huó多duō累lèi啊a，我wǒ等děng着zhe捡jiǎn兔tù子zǐ就jiù行xíng了le，又yòu轻松qīng sōng又yòu有yǒu肉ròu吃chī。

Someone asked him: why have you stopped working? He said: work is tiring; waiting for rabbits is easy and I still get meat.

消息xiāo xi传出chuán chū去qù很hěn远yuǎn，连lián邻lín村cūn的de人rén都dōu知道zhī dào了le宋sòng国有guó yǒu这么zhè me一yí个gè等děng兔tù子zǐ的de农民nóng mín。

The news spread so far that even neighboring villages knew of the Song farmer waiting for rabbits.

这zhè个gè故事gù shi告诉gào su我们wǒ men：不bù能néng把bǎ偶然ǒu rán的de好运hǎo yùn当成dàng chéng规律guī lǜ，真正zhēn zhèng的de收获shōu huò，要yào靠kào自己zì jǐ的de劳动láo dòng。

The lesson: never mistake a lucky accident for a rule. Real harvests come from real work.
